Cottbus, gate to the Spreewald biosphere reserve and Lausitz region, second largest city in the federal state Brandenburg and the centre of the Sorbian minority. The city on the Spree river with its idyllic old town centre has many attractions to offer. Such as the Art Nouveau state theatre or the pharmacy museum herbal shop where it is possible to buy 250 different varieties of quality tea and tea blends. Last but not least, the city is known through the FC Energie football club and is popular as carnival stronghold. Landmark of Cottbus in the middle of the historic center on the Spremberger Straße. Built in the 13th century the Spremberger Turm tower was a significant part of the city's defense system. Today the tower's 28 metre high viewing platform provides a superb view of Cottbus and surrounding area.

Dieselkraftwerk Cottbus – unique industrial monument and nowadays art museum on the Mühleninsel island. The museum is one of the most important art museums in the federal state of Brandenburg and owns a collection of more than 23,000 works of modern and contemporary art including painting, sculpture, graphics, photography, posters.

Branitzer Park

Very worth seeing and recreative. Branitz park with castle is the masterpiece of garden architecture created by Hermann Prince von Pückler-Muskau. With the Branitz landscape park he established the magical Cottbus garden tradition. The castle lies in the centre, it served as residence for the prince. Its earth pyramids are worldwide unique, they are a special feature created after the model of the Egyptian pyramids.

Running around Amtsteich lake

From the hotel turn into Schlosskirchstraße street until the Goethepark park. Making turn around the Amtsteich pond and then along the Spree river to the Blechenpark park forward to Käthe-Kollwitz-Park park to Spreewehrmühle mill and back to the hotel for breakfast. Cottbus park landscape with its mostly floodlit tracks is an ideal training ground for runners.

Swimming in Sachsendorfer Lake

Distance: 6 km

Idyllic unguarded quarry pond with golden-sandy beaches surrounded by a beautiful landscape. If you need a refreshment, take some delicious picnic with you or eat at the small beach snack bar. Sachsendorf See quarry pond is located just 20 minutes from the hotel; this is a great day trip for a comfortable cycle tour to the Southwest of Cottbus.

Sportpark Cottbus is the real eldorado for fans of ball sports. 3 indoor courts and 3 outdoor courts offer a unique sporting experience all the year. The open air courts offer artificial grass with quartz sand and playing is not stressing knees and joints. Here anybody can play, young or old, singles or doubles players, if required by floodlight.

Golfing in the Lausitz

The Lausitzer Golfclub golf club with its 9-hole course is one of the latest in the region of Brandenburg. Varied fairways require longhitter quality and precision. High roughs, water hazards and bunkers make the course demanding in regards to technique and strategy. Green fee players are welcome.

Across Altmarkt to Hubertstraße then just follow the cucumber signs. Come along on Gurkenradweg cucumber cycle route; leads through picturesque scenery deep into Spreewald biosphere reserve. Best way to explore the surroundings is by one of our bikes with speed gear. Bike rental April - October for 14.00 Euro per day and bike. Electric bikes and picnic basket on request.
