The River Danube Flows underneath the Hotel
This extraordinary hotel is located on an island in the middle of the river Danube (Donau), offering a fabulous view of the medieval city of Regensburg. The hotel building is a former silversmith's manufactory and is classified as a historical monument. Its sledge-hammers used to be powered by the Danube waters, and still today the river keeps running underneath as well as all around the house.

Located right in the middle of the Danube river, the Sorat Insel-Hotel Regensburg offers a marvellous view of the medieval city of Regensburg and its cathedral. The building, which once housed a large silversmith manufactory, is situated on a small Danube island. Modern architectural ideas helped to preserve the character of the old manufactory, classified as a historical monument, when reconstructing and transforming it into a hotel. From the hotel bar, one enjoys the view of the Regensburg landmark, the famous medieval bridge "Steinerne Brücke" through a panoramic window ten meters high. The river that used to power the factory's sledge hammers still flows underneath the hotel.
The Sorat Insel-Hotel Regensburg has 75 first-class rooms and suites. All rooms are equipped very comfortably, with underfloor heating, marble bathrooms, telephone, a fax and PC plug, satellite TV, radio alarm clock and minibar. Some rooms are air-conditioned. For the guests' leisure there are sauna, a fitness room and a beautiful summer terrace overlooking the Danube river. And the view of the old town's silhouette enlightened by the morning sun is an unforgettable experience while eating from the sumptuous breakfast buffet.
Four conference rooms have enough space for up to 200 persons. They offer the same magnificent view of Regensburg as does restaurant "Brandner" with its excellent international cuisine.
The location of the Sorat Insel-Hotel Regensburg is just ideal: central but yet very quiet. The 2009 room rates range from 125 to 204 Euro for a single room, and 163 to 242 Euro for a double room, breakfast buffet included.
